WHO THEY ARE?

Star Rising Energy Pvt. Ltd based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified company and a noted name in the Electrical Products manufacturing and supply field since the 2000. The range of products they offer include Electrical Insulators, Auto Recloser, Drop Out Fuse, Air Base Switches, Lightning Arrestors, Fuse Cut Out, Electrical Fittings, and Busbar Distribution Box.

THEIR PROCESS:

The general day in life of SREPL would begin with an enquiry made by the prospect or lead generated internally by the Business Development Officers. SREPL also has a project division which works in different way in terms of sale. They would get custom requirements from the prospect and will outsource some and product some of the custom electrical devices needed to complete the order. In such a situation, 3d/2d drawing would be drawn, get approved upon and costed for the best quote.

Once, the prospect books the sale, SREPL would raise an internal Job Order, along with checking if they are approved in the discom and getting approval if not approved. The job order will go through internal reviews and planned as per the requirement. Procurement division will be given material indents needed for manufacturing to carry out. Once all the materials are received, They are sent to QC for Quality tests and QC approval marks the entry of material in the Raw Material Store.

Store then issues the material to production. Sometimes, to product one of the items in the Job Order, another division would also be involved as the base product would be provided by either Fabrication or some other division. Daily Stock reporting is done and once the manufacturing is complete; Product is submitted to the Finished Goods Store for final Inspection and consequent dispatch.

The Logistics would then issue the product from FG Store and then dispatch it for customer delivery. Accounting would act as usual, would interject as and when needed. Payment followups and invoices will be raised at required frequency.

THEIR CHALLENGES:

1. The warehouse was mismanaged. No row/racl/bin/ aisle system implemented at all.
2. No KPI for the performance of employees or department.
3. Lead follow-ups were poor.
4. Inaccurate costing and thus unmeasurable profits (or losses).
5. People were to be manually told their tasks on a day-to-day basis because there was not the centralized system.
6. Poor reporting and little-to-no MIS system.
7. Poor on-time delivery figures.
8. Quality loss due to rushed order because of lack of planning.
9. Manufacturing Scheduling catastrophes.
10. vendor delaying orders due to delay in order submission. In-turn delaying the delivery.

SIMPLE – EPCA, helped SREPL to measure the least cost of product, highest cost of production, Average and Standard all at same time; drawing costs from the stock moves automatically.

SIMPLE production scheduling, automatically runs the job orders in a complex algorithm every night and prepares a best manufacturing schedule based on the availability of the machines and resources. It does back calculation and also forward calculation based on the record rules being set by SREPL.
Simple Vendor Report card, helps numbering vendors based on their performance so when SREPL order for parts, they know the best vendor to ask for.
